01 Create — Draw — Design

Turn your idea
into a finished part.

Create your own designs, draw precise outlines and design parts that fit. Use dimensions and geometric constraints to turn your idea into a template ready for your workpiece.

  • Combine lettering and shapes into original designs
  • Draw and refine outlines
  • Dimension your parts and apply geometric constraints

02 Image assessment and preparation

Your image.
Assessed and prepared for engraving.

Bring out the potential in your image. PewPew Studio assesses tones, detail, noise and resolution, gives specific recommendations and automatically prepares your image.

  • Assess image quality and identify weaknesses
  • Automatically improve tones and detail
  • Compare the original and enhanced image side by side

Image assessment in this example

Original75 / 100
Enhanced81 / 100

Recommendation: brighten the midtones.

The score assesses image preparation. The engraving result also depends on your material and laser settings.

03 Image engraving

Turn tones
into halftone dots.

After preparing your image, convert it to a halftone for engraving. Light and dark areas become a pattern your laser can engrave. The enlarged deer head reveals the individual dots.

  • Choose a suitable halftone method
  • Represent tones as patterns of dots
  • Inspect individual dots in the enlarged detail

04 Nesting

Make more of your material.

Nest shapes, images and text to save material. Related parts stay together as a group — even inside a boundary you have drawn yourself.

  • Arrange shapes, images, text and entire groups
  • Use your material area or a custom outline as the boundary
  • Set the starting point, spacing and rotations
